Dear Participant in the HUMAN PLUS 2006 Archipelago Conference "Im/Emigration and Mobility in European Culture, Society and Citizenship, Pisa, 30 June - 1 July 2006,
We have reserved hotel rooms for all of you in many different medium and small hotels in the area near to the Learning Tower and to the part of the University where we will hold our Conference. You have already been informed, or will soon be informed by Pasquale Cuomo, about which hotel you are in.
This is the map of hotels and meeting places.
The Pisa airport fortunately is very close to the city, and you can get the city bus which allows you to arrive directly quite near your hotels. When you exit the baggage reclaim area, to the right you will see an office where you can purchase the bus tickets.
A city bus ticket good for one hour costs 80 euro cents.
Until 21:00 the appropriate bus from the airport is the number 3. For the various hotels you can get off at different stops: for Hotel Capitol and Amalfitana in via Fermi, for Hotel Villa Primavera in via Bonanno Pisano, for Hotels Ariston, Villa Kinzica, Francesco and Giardino Park get off at Piazza Manin (Duomo).
After 21:00 get the Circular B, and do the same. We cannot reimburse taxis: if you do take a taxi it will cost you about 7 to 8 euros. There are some ‘collective taxis’ usually waiting at the airport: they wait until they have a couple of clients going the same direction and split the charge (so usually it is about 2 to 3 euros).
Those coming from Florence airport by train (or by train) will also be able to take the number 3 bus. From the train station you can also get the A shuttle (Navetta A for Torre Park Pietrasantina), getting off at the same stops listed above.
You will find in the hotel a folder with a map and the name of the restaurant where we will have dinner on the evening of the 29th. You will also find many colleagues from the Archipelago. We will start dinner early (7:30 pm) so as to be able to enjoy the beautiful evening in Pisa.
If you require other information please let us know.
